looking at their web site, it seems they rely completely on mankind to solve problems, yet their message is so close to the scriptures, it makes me wonder ---if, once you have your life in order- the scientology way, mankind should resolve all their problems since they believe all are equal, etc.. they dont seem to believe in god or in satan, but that the world is in a mess because men dont work together to better themselves.. any comments??.
theirs seem to be a perfect life, and have professionals in place to help relieve anyone of any baggage they carry from early life, ie -abuse, be it physical, emotional or religious..... .

I think it's important for anyone who has been involved with the WT to understand how cults work and how they have been affected by them. People who have been in cults and not fully healed from that experience are vulnerable to being sucked into another.
Steve Hassan's book, "Combatting Cult Mind Control" is very helpful in this regard.
Scientology hurts people, just like the WT does, and uses many of the same mind control techniques.

One of my biggest regrets as a JW was not getting a good education. At one point I had given up hope that it could happen for me. But finally, after all these years, I graduated from college last month.
Now I'm ready to start a new career. If only there were jobs....

I remember recently a Pew Research poll that said 60% of people who convert to the JWs eventually leave and close to two-thirds of kids raised in it leave when they grow up. I don't know the margin of error on that poll though.
has anyone else experienced something like this?.
in my mother-in-law's congregation a special pioneer was recently moved to the congregation and he gave a talk where he said he and the other elders felt there was a bad spirit in the congregation and there must be something going on that is preventing jehovah's holy spirit from operating properly.
but he didn't state explicity what the problem might be and now gossip is rife in the congregation about whether there might be a sinner or a traitor in their midst.. for many this is just the excuse they need to gossip and bad mouth others.
Ah yes, the workings of a cult. What I'd like to know is, where was Jehovah's spirit when Rutherford ran the organization??
honestly, did you really care about everyone in your hall?.
everyone gripes about how the majority of elders never cared but were you one who regularly showed how much you cared for the "brothers and sisters"?
i'll bet we all share some guilt in this.
I did care about the people I knew as a JW. Unfortunately, I also bought the WT b_11$#!t about being loyal to the org first, even if it hurt those same people I cared about. I will never make that mistake again!!

during a recent special day assembly program, ted said that woman in a physically abusive marriage should submit to her husband so that eventually her husbands may respond to their submission and come to worship god.
my family was completely shocked.
can you imagine the culpability and responsibility of this man who claims to speak for the christ to encourage women to get beat up as way to encourage their abusive husbands to come into the truth.
It's been a long time since I was a JW but I thought physical abuse was one of the circumstances that allowed a woman to leave her husband. That wasn't enough to justify a divorce, but did allow for not living together. Am I remembering wrong? Isn't it the same policy as for someone whose spouse is sharing apostate information with them and therefore "spiritually endangering" them?
the new co in the area referenced the above quote from the bible during one of his talks recently.
his point was that we need to get out in the ministry and not take a bunch of breaks in service and stuff.
he said that jesus told his followers that when he sent them out.
They say what ever suits their purposes at the time. An accurate interpretation of the scriptures or an attempt to see what the Bible writers might have actually meant is unimportant to them.
In my opinion, the WT is less interested in what the Bible says and more interested in how it furthers their agenda. The Bible has become a tool it uses to promote itself.
worked nightshift so woke at 2pm and went out to buy some beer and scotch and a cigar to smoke for the first time!
realized my wife had taken my credit card so went home...didn't have time to buy a cigar..damn!
6.30pm had a polish beer and started the barbie.
This was not our best New Years eve either. We had to take our cat into the emergency vet. He will be fine, but we have to give him meds twice a day for a week, and have had to postpone our trip to visit my family.
We got home about 11:30. My husband stayed awake long enough to give me a New Years kiss and then went to bed. (Actually, I might not have gotten that kiss if it wasn't for the vet trip. Mr. Fiorini usually conks out pretty early. If we hadn't had to go, he probably would have been in bed by 10.)
